Travel grants for postgraduate studies, research and field work
The Foundation of the Finnish Institute in the Middle East awards travel grants for research carried out in the Middle East and research-related travel. Grants can be sought by researchers and doctoral students who are Finnish citizens or who work in Finland. As a rule, grants are not awarded to undergraduate students or for conference trips. The grant must be used during the year it was awarded. In evaluating the applications, a long-term stay in the destination area is considered an asset.
Grants for Arabic language courses
FIME awards grants for at least one month of Arabic language studies in the Middle East. The grant is meant to cover only course fees, and also undergraduate students may apply for it. In evaluating the applications, students with advanced Arabic skills are preferred, as well as courses of long duration.
