The Foundation of the Finnish Institute in the Middle East awards grants for research in the Middle East and research-related trips, as well as Arabic studies.
Travel grants are aimed at researchers and Phd students, and they are primarily awarded for fieldwork and data collection trips to the Middle East. As a rule, these grants are not awarded to undergraduate students.
Grants for Arabic language studies are mainly awarded for course fees for language studies in the Middle East. Undergraduate students can also apply for scholarships for studying Arabic.
Every other year the Foundation grants the Aimo T. Nikolainen Grant for Ecumenical Research, funded by the Ordo Sancti Constantini Magni of Finland.
